      Barangay Vicente Hizon Sr. recently concluded its 3-day 6th Araw Ng Barangay Celebration last July 9 -  11, 2011. It all started at 5:30 a.m. of July 9 with a fun run participated by almost 200 runners from the different sectors and residents of this barangay. The gun start was fired by no less than the Punong Barangay Ralph O. Abella himself.

      It was really fun joining this activity and I could see that on the faces of the participants disregarding the strenuous activity the've gone through.  

    Aside from the cash prizes for the winners there were also prizes drawn courtesy of sun cellular. And of course the free Lugaw from the City Mayor's Office given to feed "some hundreds of hungry mongolians".

    

     

      

       After the fun run, another event ensued, the eldelympics where the senior citizens showcase their talents and compete for the choral singing contest with the "Barangay March" as the main piece and a Ballroom Dancing with six pairs as participants.

         

    A very special person (VIP), Congressman Mariano Piamonte Jr., A-Teacher Party List Representative witnessed the event and pledged to construct another infra project for Fortune Exec. Homes. This time a basketball covered court to be funded at the cost of 2M. The first one was a day care center at the cost of P500,000.00. (See picture below)

           At 2:00 p.m., the Council members were in full force, attended the "Kasalan sa Barangay" with 11 couples able to received the sacrament of Matrimony. The newly-wed couples were very grateful to the Council for spearheading this activity and taking care of all the preparation and of course including the gifts and the banquet. The Council would like to extend their sincere gratitude also to all the sponsors for their generosity that made this event a very successful one.

       In the evening, it was a grand coronation for the Munting Mutya at Prinsipe attended by no less than the Mayor of IGACOS, Hon. Aniano Antalan who happens to be the father of the Munting Mutya Grace Antalan. The announcement of winners and awarding of prizes for Amateur Photography Contest was also done in the later part of the program.

       

        

       The following day, July 10 was started by a motorcade in the morning and followed by the "Barangay Got Talent" held at Vicente Hizon Elem. School Gym. Then Bingo Social in the afternoon and Basketball exhibition between Team Brgy. Hizon against Team Kapamilya.

   

    

        

        The Punong Barangay hosted a "Fellowhip Night" to recognize the efforts of the Council Members, Staff and functionaries who worked hard that made possible the celebration of the Araw Ng Barangay an exceptional one.

       

        The series of activities did not end until the 2nd day because on the 3rd day another event was observed, the City Caravan. This is a concept of bringing the services of the City Government to the people of this barangay. Skeleton forces from the various offices of the city  such as from the City Health, City Vet, TMC, City Agri., BCCAD, NSO, City Registrar and etc., etc...were at the brgy. hall to offer their services.

        The secretary, being the first recipient to a free haircut was caught in a camera with the punong barangay acting as a barber.

 

     

     

          

          The planning, preparation and execution of holding a successful event is no joke but a grueling effort and very cumbersome task but this was done by almost one person, the indefatigable, amiable, lovely and very charming tourism Action officer Ms. Marites Z. Del Rosario.

       Her able leadership propels the Council and the whole members of functionaries to work as a team and worked hard even beyond the call of duty, the reason why excellence was achieved and its all worth the effort. Kudos to you Tes, your charms are really  infectious and to all of you Guys, the beautiful people of Brgy. Hizon Sr. I take my hat off and salute you guys!!
