Araw Ng Barangay, Youth Assembly & Barangay Assembly!

  

Barangay Vicente Hizon Sr. celebrated its 9th Founding Anniversary last July 12, 2014 that started with a wake-up call (Diana) at 5:30 a.m. to the residents of all the Puroks within the barangay.  Then it was followed by a conjoined mass at 7:30 a.m. attended by Barangay Officials and Functionaries with the faculties and students of Hizon Elementary School who is also celebrating its 61st Founding Anniversary and marking the 121st birth anniversary of Don Vicente Hizon Sr. who donated the lot where the school is located.

  

Early in the morning of the same day, the Free Dental and Medical Check-up started at around 8:00 a.m. which was conducted by personnel of City Health assisted by Barangay Health Workers.

  

A team of lawyers from the Public Attorney’s Office were around to render free legal services to the constituents of the barangay.

  

A free lunch was tendered by the Barangay Council to all those who participated in the celebration of the Araw Ng Barangay.

  

During the day, the Youth Assembly was also conducted starting at 1:00 p.m. attended by the newly appointed members of the Task Force for Youth Development bringing along with them a good number of members from the youth sector in their respective zones where they represent.

  

Some of the important activities during the Youth Assembly were as follows; 1) Presentation of Youth Development Plan & Budget by the Chairman, Kagawad Erico R. Talili 2) A short lecture on Vegetables in Nutrition 3) Mini-lecture in Organic Gardening by the Punong Barangay and; 4) Distribution of Lettuce Plants to the participants.

  

Then at 4:35 p.m. the Punong Barangay as Presiding Officer formally called to order the start of the Barangay Assembly that started with a Doxology, Singing of Pambansang Awit & Tayo’y Dabawenyo. Following immediately is the reading of proof of notice for the conduct of the Barangay Assembly and the secretary reported that a total of 162 members were registered in attendance.

The body was briefed by the secretary of the order of business, followed by the reading of the minutes of the previous assembly conducted last November 30, 2013. In the absence of any comments or correction and on motion by Mrs. Rita C. Mariano duly seconded by Mrs. Ramsyl T. Uy the minutes of the previous assembly was approved as read by the secretary. Since there was no issues arising from the previous minutes was raised from the floor, the Punong Barangay took the opportunity of the Presiding Officer’s Time by welcoming and thanking the members for their participation. He also informed the body that the first agendum which is the report of accomplishment will be done through slide presentation with narration.

After the presentation, Mrs. Rita C. Mariano moved from the floor that the report is hereby received, duly seconded by Mrs. Leticia E. Narisma and it was unanimously adopted.

Hon . Congressman Mylene J. Garcia also took center stage to apprise her constituents on the latest workings of the Congress and the projects that she still managing to have at present.

The next agendum, was the ratification of the Tax Code Ordinance which was presented by Kagawad Erico R. Talili and was thoroughly discussed and deliberated.

With some corrections and on motion of Mrs. Josefina Garcia, duly seconded by Mrs. Fely Encinares and it was unanimously adopted that the Tax Code Ordinance is hereby ratified.

During the open forum, Mrs. Marlene Rama suggested that on the next assembly, the report of accomplishments should be coupled with an evaluation and the Presiding Officer said that her suggestion is well taken and will be considered.

There being no more matters to be discussed, Mrs. Carolina Olmoguez moved for the adjournment of the assembly meeting and it was adjourned at 6:09 p.m.

   

After the assembly, there were group dance presentations made by the different groups such as the Senior Citizen of Nova Tierra Chapter, the Lupong Tagapamaya and the Purok Leaders.

  

The day’s affairs and activities ended in the evening at Zone 1 of this barangay with a beauty, brain and talent pageant to be crowned as the “Hot Mama” for the year 2014 won by Mrs. Apple Ullegue. The crown was turned over by Mrs. Lalay Ajero who got hold of the crown in the year 2007.

It was a full load of activities, since the celebration of the Araw Ng Barangay, Youth Assembly and Barangay Assembly were all squeezed in one day but it was really a very momentous event because it was a successful one. Sec Red
