7th Araw Ng Barangay!

Barangay Vicente Hizon Sr.  celebrated the Araw Ng Barangay last July 7, 2012, Saturday which started at 6:00 a.m. with a mass and "Kasalan Ng Bayan” (mass wedding) sponsored and being attended by the Barangay Officials and functionaries.

Some three pairs of new couples exchanged their vows before the officiating priest, Father Jeff Simbajon and the Barangay Officials and Functionaries stood as witnesses.

This was being followed by an opening program at 8:00 a.m. at the entertainment center,  3rd floor of the barangay hall and hosted by the ever charming Ms. Marites del Rosario. The Hizon Elem. School attended in full force led by their gorgeous Principal Ms. Maricel Noquiao who is still a bachelorette. The teachers were very enthusiastic to present a modern dance number to the delight of the crowd.

Simultaneously conducted while the program was going on is the IPSB Caravan at 8:00 a.m., a concept of bringing down the services of the different Agencies closer to the people by setting up satellite offices right at the barangay hall. Participating agencies are;  City Health Office, City Veterinary Office, Sangguniang Panglungsod, City Environment Office, City Social Service Office, Office of the Senior Citizen, City Agriculture Office, Office of the Vice-Mayor, BCCAD,  City Legal Office, City Civil Registrar Office, City Mayor’s Office, City Engineer’s Office and City Assessor’s Office (Buhangin).

There was a good turned out of people availing the free medical and dental services tendered by the City Health Office.  Some number of dogs was also vaccinated with anti-rabies by the City Veterinary Office and the rest of the agencies performed their functions to cater the different needs of the barangay constituents.

It was a festive atmosphere, just like a fiesta because while the people were waiting for their turn, they were treated with ice cream, courtesy from the Vice-Mayor Office and "Lugaw” (rice porridge) too, from BCCAD.

The City Caravan ended up at about 12:00 noon and the service teams, barangay officials and functionaries had their lunch together at the barangay hall. The Barangay Council headed by Punong Barangay Ralph O. Abella would like to express his gratitude to all those who participated in the mission and making the celebration of the Araw Ng Barangay another round of success! Sec Red
