Members of the Rotary Club of San Diego Paradise Valley headed by its Charter President Mr. Romeo Villanueva conducted a medical mission at Barangay Vicente Hizon Sr. last March 8, 2012.

The team was composed of 10 persons; nine came from San Diego, Paradise Valley, USA and they were joined by a Rotarian from Makati City in the person of Ms. Blet Castillo. The medicines were dispatched earlier ahead of them for proper counting of inventory, segregation to facilitate easy distribution during the day of the medical mission.

The Punong Barangay invited some doctors and dentists from the different medical and dental associations such as City Health Office and Davao Medical School Foundation and the Office of Congresswoman Mylene J. Garcia who positively responded to the call. 

The City Health Office contingent composed of physician & nurses was headed by Dra. Julinda Acosta, the District Health Officer of City Health – Sasa District. They were Dra. Maria Aida Gordo, Ma. Emily Villagonzalo, Geraldine Wong, Diana Abayon, Araceli Batacan, Rhea Riz Amora, Beverly Canas, Michelle Pichon and Felicitas Cinco.

The Davao Medical School Foundation volunteers on the other hand, composed of Post Graduate Interns was led by PGI Ian Abundo.

The dental team was composed of of Dra. Jesie Decin and dental aide Sherel Abude and dentists from the Office of Congresswoman Mylene J. Garcia.

There was a heavy turned out of patients-beneficiaries during the day and out of 1,300 patients targeted, a total of 750 were served, 602 on medical cases and 148 on dental cases until the end of the day.

City Councilor Marissa S. Abella also visited the barangay hall to personally extend her thanks to  the members of Rotary Club of San Diego.
