2.39 PMDCWD LAWIG 8!
Lawig 8 is an inter-department artificial coral reef making contest and installation initiated by the Davao City Water District in fulfillment of their mission - to take a proactive role in environmental concerns.
The installation of the artificial coral reef was done at the Barangay Vicente Hizon Marine Fish Sanctuary last May 23, 2014 in coordination with the Barangay Officials and BFARMC personnel.
It was a one day affair that started with a short program and being hosted by Davao City Water District. DCWD CREA Department manager Ms. Imelda Magsuci opened the program with her welcome remarks and followed by Ms. Maria Editha C. Monje who read the message of DCWD acting general manager Edwin V. Regalado and acknowledged all the persons responsible for the successful launching of this event.
Punong Barangay Ralph O. Abella also expressed his gratitude to the DCWD, BFARMC and the fisher folks for their unequivocal support to the success of the Marine Fish Sanctuary.
Lunch and snacks were provided by DCWD to all those who took part of this momentous event and everyone is hopeful that the marine fish sanctuary will be teeming in abundance with different species of fishes in the future – granting that the Chinese fishermen will never be able to reach our shore.
